  1. Can I install ESET endpoint products on a server?
    ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (EFSW) is designed specifically to replace ESET endpoint products for use on servers (domain controller). Existing business users can migrate to ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server by contacting their local ESET office, partner or reseller.
    EFSW includes new features specific for server use. A key advantage is that recommended settings for installation to a server are built into EFSW (Automatic Exclusions), so there is no need to set the 'best practices' exclusions onto a server operating system or desktop computer used in a server role. Export your settings

Before using the Uninstaller tool, export all ESET product settings. Your settings will not be restored automatically when you reinstall ESET.

Back up network adapter settings

After using the ESET Uninstaller Tool, you may be required to reinstall your network adapter drivers. Follow the steps below to back up your network adapter settings and restore them after uninstallation is finished:

  1. Before running the Uninstaller Tool: Open an administrative command prompt and enter the following command to back up your network adapter settings:
    • netsh -c interface dump > C:NetworkSettings.txt
  2. After uninstallation is complete: Reinstall your network adapter drivers if necessary and then open an administrative command prompt and enter the following command to restore your network adapter settings:
    • netsh -f C:NetworkSettings.txt
  1. Download the ESET Uninstaller and save it to your Desktop.
  2. Restart your computer in Safe Mode.
  3. In Safe Mode, double-click the installer file you saved to your Desktop in step 1 to run ESET Uninstaller tool. If you want to use the Advanced user commands below, open an Administrative command prompt first and then change to the Desktop directory.

  • If you are removing ESET products from bootable media, you will be asked if you want to remove ESET files from each available partition separately.
  • /mode=offline specifies the uninstallation mode for CD and USB drives.
  • /mode=online specifies hard disks. Very rarely, you may need to use the /mode=onlineparameter to force the ESET product file deletions if the ESET Uninstaller does not detect your bootable media automatically.
  • /force removes all present ESET products and components (including ERA components) without being prompted; run the uninstaller with the /force parameter
  • In some cases, the ESET Uninstaller tool will need to be launched by typing ESETUninstaller.exe /reinst into the command line and pressing Enter. The ESET Uninstaller utility will prompt you if the switch is necessary.

If you are prompted to use the ESETUninstaller.exe /reinst command, your Network Interface Card settings will be reset. We recommend that you record your network settings somewhere so that you can easily reconfigure them after running the uninstaller tool.


  1. Read the warning and type y to confirm.

  1. Review the item(s) listed under Installed ESET products, type the number that corresponds to the ESET installation in this list that you want to remove and then press the Enter key.

  1. Download the ESET Uninstaller and save it to your Desktop.
  2. Uninstall the Epfw NDIS LightWeight Filter:

Skip this step if Epfw filter has already been uninstalled and is not visible in the Ethernet Properties window.

  1. Press the Windows key + r to open a Run dialog, type ncpa.cpl into the blank field and then click OK.
  2. Right-click your network adapter (select Wireless network connection) and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Epfw NDIS LightWeight Filter and click Uninstall. Click Yes at the prompt; uninstallation may take several minutes.

  1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

  1. Right-click the Start icon, select Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu and click Yes at the prompt.

  1. In the command prompt window type cd/Users/youruser/Desktop and press Enter. (Replace youruserwith the user name on your computer. In the example below, 'ESET' is the user name.) To launch the ESET Uninstaller utility, type ESETUninstaller.exe and press Enter.
